  • Education and Training
        • Education – Suicide is complicated and tragic, but it is often preventable. We can decrease suicide and suicide attempts by increasing student, staff, and faculty knowledge and adaptive attitudes about help-seeking and reducing the stigma of mental illness, as well as acknowledging the importance of seeking help or treatment. Knowing the warning signs, risk factors, and protective factors can help save lives.

Buckeye Campaign Against Suicide (BCAS)

students at Buckeye Campaign Against Suicide event

Buckeye Campaign Against Suicide (BCAS), a student organization represented at OSU’s Columbus and Marion campuses, was formed to educate these campuses about mental health issues, the signs of suicide and how to prevent it. BCAS hosts RUOK? Day, an OSU Signature Event that brings together over a thousand individuals to learn about mental health and suicide prevention. BCAS also hosts a Survivors’ Day Luminary to support those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

This group encompasses a diverse community committed to erasing the stigma surrounding suicide prevention and mental health. We are an open group where everyone is always welcome, and we aim to start the conversation that most people are afraid to have.

OSU Columbus BCAS has meetings every Mondays from 6:30-7:15pm in the Enarson Building Room 214 for Fall 2022. If you have any questions, email bcas@osu.edu.

Join the BCAS Suicide Prevention movement, because Buckeyes care.

  • The Ohio State University at Marion hosted RUOK? Day 2020 in March. The goal of this annual event, hosted by the Buckeye Campaign Against Suicide student organization (BCAS) and the Office of Counseling & Wellness, is to provide education about mental health issues, suicide prevention, stigma reduction, and available resources. Several campus and community groups were represented to engage students and guests in this fun, fair-like event including Buckeye Food Alliance, BCAS, Veterans of the Marion Campus, Marion Campus Alumni Association, Marion Area Counseling Center, ADAMH Board, NAMI, HelpLine/SARN, and MAPP/Help Me Grow. Students had a great time while learning important information. We are grateful to all who participated!
