Matthew Borello works for the College of EHE Career Services Department

I work for the College of EHE Career Services Dept.  My responsibilities include program development by assessing what career searching/development information may be useful to students within the college, designing and developing a program that will meet those informational needs through an individual or collaborative effort, implementing and presenting the program through a workshop or information sessions, and evaluating the program and adjusting if necessary.  I also conduct one-on-one resume reviews with the College of EHE students.

MatttThe Corporate Training and Development major has assisted me with many different areas of knowledge and skills development that I can directly implement into my position with the College of EHE.  Extensive training with ADDIE has helped to give me the ability to develop and present information in a more efficient and effective manner. I also have applied training needs analyses on several different occasions while collaborating with my department coordinator to develop program ideas that can be useful within the career services department.

I am very satisfied with my decision to pursue this major, and I look forward to the opportunities CTD will bring me in the future in both my professional and personal development.

Deadlines Approaching with the Kauffman Firm Survey – Data, Conferences and Jobs!

April 15 – NORC Data Enclave Application Deadline

Want to work with the richer KFS data in the NORC Data Enclave? Then April 15 is your last deadline before summer comes! Three times a year we accept applications for researchers wishing to access a more detailed KFS data file. The NORC Data Enclave provides secure remote access to the KFS confidential microdata file, which contains more detailed industry codes, geographical codes (zip code, metropolitan statistical area, and state), and many additional continuous variables (in addition to categorical variables). The KFS confidential microdata may only be accessed through the NORC Data Enclave. Work is underway to expand the existing survey data with additional content from websites and other sources. While such content will only be available to Data Enclave members who need this data and sign additional confidentiality statements, these actions demonstrate the Foundation’s efforts to increase the richness of information available for study in the Data Enclave as it nears the final year of its survey collection in 2012.

All scholars are welcome! We currently have active members of the Data Enclave from all over the United States, Europe, and Asia. The next application deadline for NORC access is August 15. Learn more.

April 30 – KFS Conference Deadline

If you are using the KFS in your research, then the KFS Research Conference is for you! In an effort to support the community of scholars using the KFS in their research, the Kauffman Foundation is organizing a KFS Research Workshop on Thursday, July 19 and Friday, July 20. Additionally, professional development workshops will be offered on July 18 focusing on imputation for missing data and using survey weights. Learn more.

Access the data online or apply for the richer versions of the data at the NORC Data Enclave ( April 15 deadline) and Census Research Data Centers. The 2010 collection was nearly identical to the 2009. Scholars can browse the technical report, look at the questionnaire, or get variable content and distributions as they start to make use of the new year.
