Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides fellowships for graduating U.S. college seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year.  Recent B.S./B.A. graduate, master’s students, doctoral candidates, young professionals and artists can apply for these opportunities for personal development and international experience.

Recipients will plan their own programs involving university course work, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination.  You can apply through the Ohio State Graduate School. Are you interested in becoming a student speaker for Commencement Eve Ceremony?

Undergraduate, graduate and professional students graduating in Spring 2013 are encouraged to apply to deliver the student address at the 2013 Commencement Eve Candlelight Ceremony, on Saturday, May 4 at 9 p.m. on the Oval. All graduating students and their families and guests are invited to attend.

EHE Dissertation Year Fellowships

The College of Human Ecology and Education will provide 2 and possibly 3 dissertation fellowships to post candidacy doctoral students. Two dissertation fellowships are open to post-candidacy students throughout the department, while one dissertation fellowship will be available to a post candidacy student in Educational Administration.

You do not need to be post-candidacy when you apply but you must pass your candidacy examination by Friday, June 7th.  The deadline for turning in your application is Monday, February 18, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.   Please turn in both electronic and paper copies of applications in to 121 Ramseyer Hall (Dr. Anderman’s Office) and email the electronic copy to Deb Zabloudil. The Graduate Studies Committee will review the applications and forward the winners to the College.

2013 Global Gateway Grant

The Council of Graduate Students announces the 2013 Global Gateway Grant, which encourages and promotes the professional and academic development of graduate researchers at Ohio State by providing financial support that allows students to undertake research abroad. Successful applicants will be awarded a grant of up to $1,000. If you are interested, apply between Friday (2/1) and Thursday (2/28). Email osuglobalgatewaygrant@gmail.com for more information.

Apply for the Education Abroad Scholarships offered by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion!

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion awards up to $2,000 in scholarships per student to promote international learning opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. 

Graduate or professional students who conduct research on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or disability will receive special consideration.

Also, special consideration will be given to undergraduate students who are enrolled in a university-approved program, and those students from underrepresented groups, and/or first-generation students studying abroad for the first time, conducting research abroad, or participating in service activities.

Grants and Scholarships from the Office of International Affairs

The Office of International Affairs provides grants and scholarships for faculty, graduate students, professional students, and undergraduate students at Ohio State.  The following are funded: interdisciplinary conferences and workshops on international themes, travel, international collaborative research, pre-dissertation research and study abroad programs.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Education’s Fulbright-Hays grants and the Fulbright Scholars program are managed by the Office of the International Affairs.  Grant and scholarship opportunities in Japan, Korea and China are funded by the East Asian Studies Center.

Faculty International Research Travel Grants

The College of Education & Human Ecology (EHE) is now accepting Faculty International Research Travel Grant applications for travel during the dates of January 1 – June 30, 2013. The Office of Research will provide funding for the highest ranked applications up to $500 with an equal amount provided in matching funds by the applicant’s Department/School. Faculty members are qualified to receive an international travel grant once in a two year period.

Ohio Education Research Center Located in 307 PAES

 

The Ohio Education Research Center (OERC) is a network of Ohio-based researchers and research institutions committed to developing and implementing a statwide, preschool-through-workforce research agenda to address critical education practice and policy issues. The OERC identifies and shares successful practices; responds to Ohio’s educators and policymakers’ needs; and signals emerging trends. The OERC communicates its findings broadly, through multiple channels, producing information, solutions, and tools to improve educational practice, policy, and outcomes for students.

The vision of the OERC is be the source for cutting-edge knowledge and resources regarding education and training for Ohio’s educators, policymakers and community leaders — creating a dynamic cycle of research and practice where practitioners’ needs drive the research agenda, and high-quality research has a rapid impact upon educational practice.

During the Spring of 2012, Dr. Josh Hawley was named director of the new Ohio Education Research Center.  Recent WDE graduate Dr. Sunny L. Munn is serving as the project manager and post-doctoral researcher for the center. The center is located in 307 PAES.
