The Marine Corps University Faculty Development Conference 2011 was held on 29 July 2011. As Faculty Development Coordinator, Susan Johnston (2010, Ph.D) was responsible for coordinating the event which reflected themes associated with adult teaching and learning.

Topics included the use of the case method in teaching adults, the effects of PTSD on neural capability and learning, developing learning communities to support international students and using a Learning Management System (LMS) to build writing capability. The afternoon sessions were devoted to cyber defense and curriculum.

A highlight of the event was the keynote address on leadership – “What it Takes to be a University President” – which was delivered by Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State University.
